Ways that Individuals can Decrease Greenhouse Gas and Contribute to a Better Community and Lifestyle

Cars contribute about one-third of the emissions that cause ground-level ozone pollution. Therefore, it is important that individuals keep their cars in good condition or buy a newer car because they emit much less pollution than older models. In burning gas, cars release a lot of greenhouse gases. Less gas should be used in order to help decrease greenhouse gases.

Along with cars, individuals should drive less. Walk or ride a bike to do errands or go to work. It's better for the environment as well as the body.

1.
Planting trees is a great way to improve your neighborhood. So get out there and plant some trees! Trees are essential to the improvement to the environment because they act as lungs to the planet. They take in CO2 and trap it and release oxygen. This is vital due to the fact that CO2 contributes to greenhouse effect, so the more trees there are, the more CO2 is trapped. A mature tree can trap up to 48 pounds of CO2 and in return supply enough oxygen to sustain two human beings.

Recycle! It is a great idea for individuals to bring their own bags to the grocery store, buy used goods, and attempt to throw away nearly nothing.

2.

Run fans and enjoy the breeze rather than using air conditioning. Fans use far less energy than air conditioning.

Save water! Take shorter showers, only run the dishwasher when it is completely full, flush the toilet less, and even change the washing machine setting from hot water to warm.

It is important to use natural day light. Keep the lights off during the day and use sun light instead!

Conserve energy. Purchase energy efficient lighting and technology. That way you can help the environment as well as containing the technological sources you may need. Also, watch less T.V. and read a book instead! You will be smarter that way.
